A Touch of Red

Come learn Zentangle® with me!

Zentangle Basics is the place to start because it is the prerequisite for all the other classes. I do honor Basics classes taken from other Certified Zentangle Teachers, so you have taken Zentangle Basics from another teacher, please contact me about waiving this requirement.

Each class includes all the materials you need for the class, so all you need to bring is your reading classes and any tools you received in Zentangle class.

I have a Zentangle Class Rewards Program for students who take classes. Check it out here:  “Zentangle Class Rewards Program”

This month’s Zentangle® Class Offerings include:

Zentangle Basics

Getting Started with the Basics

Come learn the Zentangle method and philosophy and see what is possible when you focus on one pen stroke at a time. We will start at the beginning and create two beautiful Zentangle tiles. It’s easy, it’s fun and you will be surprised at what you can do, even if you don’t think you are artistic.

Tangle Library with Zendalas! –  $45

Come enjoy the best of two worlds:  Tangle Library and Zendalas!

In this class, you will be given samples of each of the nine different “prestrung” Zendalas I’ve completed, and you will learn all of the tangles on all nine sample Zendalas! These new tangles, coupled with those you learned in Basics Class, are all you need to complete the class samples. Or, you can swap the new tangles with your favorite tangles if you like. Experience the fun of “tangling in the round,” and grow your Tangle Library with at least 15 new (ie, beyond Basics Class) tangles.

Let’s play with letters, words and Zentangle!

In this class, we’ll talk a bit about lettering, and spend most of the time focusing on the process of embedding letters and words.

NOTE: The frame is the Celtic Knot from the Complex Tangles class, so it is not included in this offering.

As with all my Beyond Basics Classes, please remember to bring your pens, pencils and tortillion.

Zentangle Movie Night: (Zentangle Spinner & Bijou Bingo) – $10

This offering is a great Basics’ followup class, or a great class for experienced tanglers.

We gather to watch Zentangle instructional movies and tangle along with them. I stop the video when you give the signal, and we all learn and have fun. In this segment, we will focus on Zentangle Project Pack 4 (the Zentangle Spinner!).  The image shown to the right is my first spinner, and yours may be different – that’s all part of the fun. The Spinner is created on a 10.5″ x 10.5″ Opus Tile, complete with arrow spinner.

I’ll also introduce a coming feature: Bijou Bingo! If you love Bingo and Zentangle, this is definitely for you!

The $10 materials cost covers your 10.5″ x 10.5″ Opus Tile spinner, which you can tangle and use in your Zentangle Practice as a fun way to choose tangles. I will have colored pencils available to use or purchase if you’d like to add some color.

In this four-hour class, we will begin with a pre-printed/drawn 10.5″ x 10.5″ Opus Tile labyrinth. We’ll review coloring techniques and add “Reticula and Fragments” tangling approaches to our toolbox.

The course fee includes the Labyrinth on an Opus Tile and colored pencils. Please remember to bring your pens, pencil and tortillion.

  1. Would you please send me a list of your upcoming classes for Zentangle? Thank you. Or a link?

    • Oh, my! I didn’t realize I hadn’t updated my website since August. I usually update my class listing when I put out my monthly newsletter. If you sign up for that, you will get a monthly email with upcoming classes. Would you like me to add you to it?

Currently, I have two Zentangle Basics classes set for January. I will be sending out my newsletter about a week before Christmas with other “Beyond Basics” classes for January.

The Zentangle Basics class costs $43 if you come alone, and $38 per person if you bring a friend (or two!). The January dates are:

      Wednesday evening, 1/10/18, 6:15 to 8:15 pm
      Sunday afternoon, 1/14/18, 1:00 to 3:00 pm

Thanks for your post – I will update the page momentarily.

  2. Hi, I picked up your flyer at Recent quilt show….it says you have a Z class on April 15, but don’t see it listed here.
I would like to join the class (and possibly bring a friend) if you have space.
    Is that possible?

    • Yes Bonnie – the class is happening. I’m just a bit behind in my website updates. I will send you an email with details.
