About Japanese Chiyogami
Japanese Chiyogami papers are hand silkscreened with acrylic pigments in studios in Japan. Each color on a sheet requires its own screen.
Chiyogami patterns were originally inspired by the beautiful kimono silks during Japan’s Edo period (1608-1868). It is a very resilient paper, and it is often adorned with symbols such as cranes for long life, bamboo for flexibility or plum blossoms and pine boughs for beauty and longevity.
The artistry and time-consuming process used to create Chiyogami makes it one of the most beautiful and expensive papers in the world today.
I offer Chiyogami for sale, and it can be viewed by color through the site menu.
Enjoy!
